communication - illustrating social consequences of

this development by a nice cartoon.

• Also not acceptable to me is the pessimistic point of

view by Bill Joy - chief scientist at Sun - in his article

�Why the future doesn�t need us� assuming that

autonomous self reproducing machines will exterminate

human civilization.

• To my opinion one should take a more positive point of view

and reject the schematic derivation of horror scenarios in

case of insufficient information - similiar to Jaron Lanier,

inventor of Virtual Reality (e.g. �A Tale of Two Terrors�)

• However, in any case a critical reflection on consequences

of progress in IT technology is necessary.
